2018 Highlight #2 – Major Government Overture:

AEJ’s research materials and advocacy efforts provided the basis for Israeli journalist Gal Gabay’s initiative to give members of the Ethiopian Israeli community the chance to be pardoned and their criminal records closed.

In November 2018, Israeli President Reuven Ruvi Rivlin – ראובן רובי ריבלין and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked announced they would execute this initiative.
Justice Minister Shaked stated: “We are taking a further important step to increase trust between the Ethiopian-Israeli community and the state.”
