Ethiopian Israelis are less than 2% of Israel’s population. BUT AEJ found that the number of criminal cases opened by the police against Ethiopian Israelis between 2014 and 2017 increased by 20 percent, even as it decreased by 6 percent for the total Jewish population. THIS IS CLOSE TO A 30% DIFFERENCE! During those same years, cases opened against Ethiopian Israelis for police assault increased by 25 percent.
